ABOUT ME

My name is Mauricio and I'm a Designer based in Sydney, Australia. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City; a Graduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Design from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. Currently, I am studying Graduate Certificate in UX and Web at Torrens University, Sydney.

EXPERIENCE

I am a multi-disciplinary well-rounded graphic and digital designer who enjoys collaborating with like-minded people. My experience and skills include editorial design, catalogues, POS, advertisement, UI/UX, infographics, environmental, signage, packaging design, maps, video editing and more.​

MY STORY

I have experience working in a variety of industries, including small and large companies. I consider myself lucky to have worked in different design fields, as part of a team, as a freelancer and as a sole designer. As an in-house designer, I learned how the brands work inside the company and what drives the business decisions and strategies. As an agency designer, I understood what is design thinking and how to explore new angles to approach problems.

BELIEFS

Thoughout my career, I have explored different paths, conlcuding that design is more than using software and technicalities such as coding or the printing process. Design is a way of thinking, problem-solving, and making the world a better place. I believe is important having diversified knowledge and skills, collaborate across disciplines, and be socially responsible.

MY CREATIVE SIDE

I also have a visual arts practice. It took me some time to understand and separate design from art even though they intersect. I like observing art and creating my own: paintings, mixed-media and sculpture. I enjoy and need to express myself creatively, exploring and feeling through my projects. By doing so, I stay alive and remind myself who am I.
